I'm an Academic Teacher in the Dialog Systems and Machine Learning group at Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf, where every computer science student meets me in the mandatory Data Science course or in Einführung in Python, and some come back for Data Science 2 and Deep Learning. I also supervise bachelor's and master's theses on topics around geometric and topological machine learning — one of them became hAInrich, a tiny chatbot that answers questions about HHU's AI & Data Science master without hallucinating.

Before that I was a mathematician: my PhD in Freiburg was about motivic cell structures in A¹-homotopy theory, with detours through Münster, Karlsruhe, Paris and Osnabrück (CV).

This site holds a blog I've kept since 2009 — mostly maths, some software HOWTOs, and a series of questions in information theory; parts of it are in German. If you want to get in touch: contact.
